Internship Experience

IT Programming Intern - CPQ Software

FANUC America Corporation

May 2024 - Aug 2024 | Rochester Hills, Michigan

As an Intern at FANUC America Corporation in the IT Department, I had the opportunity to contribute to projects that truly impacted both the team and the customers. One of my key responsibilities was contributing to the Configure Price Quote (CPQ) Platform, a tool essential for configuring robotic systems and generating accurate pricing. Working on the user interfaces for this platform, I used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create customer-specific pages, focusing on making the experience smoother and more intuitive. Seeing the positive effect these changes had on usability was incredibly rewarding.

A particularly memorable project involved the M900 700E/iB robot, where I worked closely with robotics data tables using SQL. One of my proudest accomplishments was building an interactive configuration walkthrough, which guided users through configuring robots, controllers, and advanced robotic technologies like iRVision and force sensing. Knowing that this feature helped simplify a complex process for our customers was extremely fulfilling.

Beyond interface design, I was able to contribute to process improvement by automating the renaming and organization of large files with Python. This automation saved countless hours of manual work, freeing up time for more meaningful tasks and streamlining operations.

Working in a SCRUM-based environment also gave me the chance to collaborate closely with talented teams, overcoming technical challenges together and contributing to agile development. I even had the chance to gain hands-on experience through warehouse training, which deepened my understanding of the robotic components and configurations I was working with on a daily basis. This internship was an enriching experience that sharpened my technical skills while giving me insight into the real-world application of robotics and software development.
